My Own Kids at ages 3
and 5 have already found successes in learning about Financial
Matters
I knew that
something needed to be done when my kids response to me telling
them that we didn't have the money for something was "Just go
get money out of the machine."
It was right
then and there that I started talking to my kids about money. I
spent hours researching, reading and testing products. I started
having my kids earn an allowance, we talked about what we were
saving for and our dreams.
When we found
Money Mama & the Three Little Pigs by Lori Mackey the process of
saving, investing, giving and spending wisely became clear.
My son has never
been prouder than when he used his own spending money to buy
himself a brand new big kid bike! It was dark and 12 degrees out
when we brought it home, but he was out in the driveway taking
it for a test run!
I no longer have
several extra items at the checkout that I agreed to just so we
could get out of the store without a fight. This system is easy
to start and follow through with.
These products
are adult information brought into the simplest form possible
for even the youngest of children to understand. The
piggy bank
gives the kids a tool to divide up their
money "all by themself". The book explains giving, investing, saving and
spending money in a fun and kid friendly way. The allowance
chart is an easy to use tool for parents and allows children to see
how money is earned, grows and has value.
Kids are taught
counting with money in Kindergarten, but it is primarily left to
the parents to teach the value of money. The earlier you start,
the sooner good habits, understanding and savings will begin and
continue to grow.
There is no
better feeling of success than to see how proud my kids are of
the chores they accomplish and the purchases they make... "all
by themselves"!! I look forward to sharing this feeling and more
information with you, your family and friends.
Wishing You and Your Kids $uccess,
Molly Smith

My son bought his own bike, with his own money and couldn't
wait for daylight to try it out.
